Donation Guidelines*
Donations can be dropped off at SewGreen
CURRENTLY SEEKING:
Sewing Machines in good working order for our Classroom, especially Janome brand
WHAT WE ACCEPT
Fabric of any type, age, and size that is still in usable condition. It must be clean, mildew-free and odorless.
Unfinished Quilt Blocks or Toppers
Beads and Jewelry Making Tools and Supplies
Genuine Leather and Fur scraps, pieces, and apparel
Yarn of all types and quantities.
Knitting needles, crochet hooks, embroidery tools
Notions and tools, such as thread, pins, needles, scissors, rotary cutters, mats
Buttons, buckles, zippers, fasteners
Trims, bindings, ribbon, lace
Uncut Sewing Patterns of all kinds
Books on Sewing and Fiber Arts
Unused polyfill, stuffing, and batting.
Sewing baskets and kits
Cashmere or Merino Wool scarves and sweaters for felting and upcycling
Denim Jackets and Jeans for upcycling!
Art Supplies of all kinds! Paint, markers, clay, paper, all the things! What can't be resold will be put on the Free Art Supply shelf!
WHAT WE CANNOT ACCEPT
Anything smelly, soiled, worn-out, moldy, mildew-y (Mildew is mold on fiber; it is an allergen and not good for our health.)
Clothing, whole or cut up (Exceptions: saris, kimonos, ethnic, vintage, leather, historic)
Rugs, towels, bed or table linens, curtains, slipcovers (Exceptions: vintage embroidered table linens and napkins)
Feathers, down, foam rubber, old or used stuffing
Magazines and catalogues
Furniture, empty sewing tables, quilt or rug frames
SewGreen is a reuse program, which means donated items must be in usable condition. Donated items are used in the SewGreen classrooms, resold, or passed along to other community programs.
