So lets be honest, our Free Art Supply Cabinet was looking a little ragged lately. It looked more like a free pile on the side of the road than what we intended it to be. Our motto is "We make reuse beautiful" and as Ithaca's original Creative Reuse store, we knew we wanted our cabinet to also be beautiful. Free shopping is still shopping, and we wanted that experience to be as pleasurable as shopping in our store. Her final piece shows a girl listening to music on her headphones while painting the front of the cabinet--a building where each person in the window is engaged in a creative activity. So how does the Free Art Supply cabinet work exactly? Its pretty simple--take what you need, leave what you don't, and make art! Inside the cabinet are a bunch of clear bins with labels so you know where to leave the things you add. Together, we'll keep it organized! So what kind of things would you find in SewGreen's Free Art Supply Cabinet? What ever you bring us! Definitely expect to find colorful fabric scraps, yarn, collage materials, patterns, crayons, pens, paint, notions and ribbons, and craft books.
We make CREATIVE REUSE beautiful!

Laura Braaten: Recent Works Laura Braaten has been in love with stitching since she first learned embroidery at age nine. She explores this passion through slow stitch, sashiko, quilting, and garment making. In the last several years Laura has committed to repurposing fabric. Her longtime meditation practice has deepened her love of stitching as a source of tranquility. Laura loves sharing her passion for textiles with others. Stitch by stitch we heal our lives. Stitch by stitch we connect with ourselves and others. https://www.ithacagallerynight.com/exhibits/sewgreen Between the hostile winter weather, the worrisome economy, and the divisive political climate, it's a rough landscape for local businesses right now. However, the SewGreen team is committed to continuing our mission of sustainability and serving our community in these difficult times. We are so excited to get started on our Spring classes! But first we have to clear out our storage area and get rid of inventory cluttering ups our classroom. So we are having a giant By-the-Bag Sale! Please help us get the word out by telling your friends and networks!
